Nothing says remoteness like the Yukon Territory. It is over 186,000 square miles with only 29,000 people in yukonthat large area. It is by far the most remote place I have ever been. It is nothing but grand wilderness. It is a lot different then the scenery of the part of Alaska I visited. The coastal mountains of Alaska blocks a lot of the rain from reaching the Yukon Territory so it is more arid. In fact it only gets 20 inches of rain a year.
The scenery is indescribable. It has rugged mountains, majestic lakes and wilderness as far as the eye can see. One area I was in had sand dunes similar to a desert. Meeting the dunes were evergreen trees and in the background there were snow capped mountains. It was the most interesting juxtaposition of scenery I have ever seen.
I didn’t get to spend a lot of time in the Yukon but rest assured I will be back much more often. It has a remote unspoiled beauty you won’t see anywhere else. It is even more remote then Alaska.yukon
